The 3rd U.S. Naval Construction Battalion (NCB), one of the first Seabee units in World War II, played a crucial role in constructing bases in the Southern Pacific, operating as autonomous detachments across the Marshall Islands campaign. After disbanding in 1944, it was reactivated in 1950 in Port Hueneme, California. Their deployments spanned global theaters, from disaster relief in North Africa to supporting operations in Iraq and Kosovo.
